Celebrate Unplug Illinois Day Saturday, July 15  by Unplugging at 60 Park and Rec Agencies Around the State

On July 15, 2023, Illinois will observe "Unplug Illinois Day," a statewide initiative organized by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association. The goal is to encourage people to disconnect from electronic devices and engage in outdoor activities, promoting physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being. Park and recreation agencies will host a range of events, such as campouts, fishing derbies, and fun runs, to provide opportunities for people to unplug and enjoy nature. The initiative highlights the health benefits of contact with nature and emphasizes the importance of health equity.
